Elizabeth Arden – Untold

Untold. 

But I have a story tell.

Though not a typically Cheong Sum kind of person (in fact, Cheong Sum always makes me feel fat and I am breathless in them) but in the mood of the festive spirits, I have gamely sent in this picture to take part in Elizabeth Arden’s Facebook #UntoldArden QOTD Contest. Alright, the truth is that I was too lazy to put up a proper outfit so I simply snap a shot of what I was wearing that day but guess what? OLIVA forte

This is not a sponsored post or a paid review but a product that I have personally consumed and have benefited from it.

Though my skin flushes and reddens easily, it has never caused me any major problem in my younger days. In fact I have cruised through my teenage years with smooth and clear skin while my peers struggled with acnes and breakouts. My take:

The packaging – from the shiny box to the yellow wrapper stands out from the usual crop of printed-plastic outer package and pinky wrapper of the majority feminine napkins available in the market.   

On opening up the box, I was astonished to find the pads being so thin. Nonetheless, that did not stop me to put its claims of providing the user 360 degrees freedom of movement with 3 times more absorbency as well as gentle and dry on the skin to test on the first day of my period, which happened to be on the day of my 21km run itself. So, along with the stretching, warming up and all, I embarked the day before sunrise to run my race with an unease of heavy flow.

I was expecting to experience the usual hot, wetly and jabbing discomforts in between steps but instead I was feeling as thought the pad wasn’t there at all. I like how its rapid absorption has allows its top layer to remain dry and cool while its flexibility allows me to move freely without any hindrance.

I usually would prefer to use a thicker and longer length pad at night to ensure greater protection but Whisper Cosmo Heavy Day pad’s efficiency has prompted me to ditch my regular night pad and used this 24cm pad while I sleep too. After the gruesome day, I have slept soundly through the night without bothering to change pad. When the checking the pad the morning after, the top layer has remained dry but when turned over, I realized how heavily soaked the pad was. Yet, there was no leakage or staining!

I am impressed!

It all began with my skin losing its firmness and elasticity but during that time I was too busy fighting with the sudden breakouts due to hormonal imbalance to notice it.

Then fine lines, one by one, creepily forming into a fleet of army and crawled onto my skin silently. I was confused but at the same time I was secretly hoping that my newly acquired information could make sense. God knows how time consuming it is to apply layers after layers and how much money I have wasted all these years on such moisturizing stuff.

So I decided to give the theory a run.

On the first day after the skipping the last step of my skincare regime the night earlier, I woke up without feeling much of a difference on my skin. However, my makeup has refused to adhere properly and my skin felt tight and uncomfortable after washing at the end of the day.

On the second morning I woke up with my face slightly oily probably due the skin’s own sebum secretion to protect itself from the drying air-condition. The pores around my nose area were visibly more noticeable and again, I have a hard time putting on makeup.

By the fifth day, lines and wrinkles have obviously deepened and my skin had become so parched and dry that it started to itch and flake.

My conclusion: Moisturizer by itself may not have any long-term impact and normal skin may do without it but for dry and dehydrated skin, a skincare product with hydrating properties is a savior. Since damaged skin has difficulty retaining its own moisture, a topical moisturizer would help to at least replenish and trap moisture while acting as a form of protection layer against exterior stressor.

O’Kaire Perfect Moisture Control Essence

Has anyone heard of O’Kaire Perfect Moisture Control Essence before? 

I have got together with some masks and other beauty stuff from Taiwan some months back and had totally forgotten about it until re-packing my stuff recently. 

It came a purple box but I must have threw away its packaging while trying to maximize my luggage so I am left with the bottle without any clue of what’s within the glass or how it should be being used. Anyway, since it is an essence, I reckoned that it is going to be after the toner and before the serum. 

In any case, the reason I have bought it was because I was attracted by those pearly crystal little spheres within the bottle and was curious to find out how it actually works.

 Well, it disperses into clear liquid when being pumped out. It feels more like a serum than an essence and has a smooth velvety texture.

 I have to admit that I did not hold high hopes of it initially but I was amazed by how quickly it soothed and quenched the thirst of my dehydrated skin even on my first application. Normally, my terribly sensitive skin would react a little whenever a new product is being introduced but this time it was going on fine and there was no irritation, no redness and no breakouts. 

It is ultra soothing and I like how it forms a protection layer that locks in moisture and prevents my skin from drying out. It does not hindrance the absorption of the other creamy stuff that I layer on top of it and I notice that because my skin is more hydrated, my makeup glides on more smoothly and stays on better too.
