FREE 7-IN-1 CUSTOMISED HERBAL SCALP THERAPY

27 Jan

I was recently given a voucher that entitles me to a FREE 7-IN-1 CUSTOMISED HERBAL SCALP THERAPY at a hair care centre run from a huge local brand hair and beauty group of companies. It claimed to be worth $450 a session but their advertisement offers $28 for first trial.

On my sensible moments, I would simply chuck it into the bin knowing that such are marketing gimmicks to lure customers into the shop for their high pressure slaughter but on that particular day, I was depressed over on my hair loss problem and took it as an opportunity to seek second opinion after failing to see improvement from my current twice weekly treatments.

While I had bravely took the plunge and made an appointment, my guts feeling instantly proved me wrong the minute I stepped into the salon.

After being inquired by a Chinese speaking staff on how I got the voucher, the receptionist asked for my ID and gave me a form to fill up before I was taken to a consultation room by an equally intimating staff whom called herself my consultant. She started off by asking me where and how frequent I color my hair and when I told her I have already stop coloring my hair for several months under my therapist’s order to treat my scalp and hair loss problem, she still persistently tried to sell me their hair coloring service claiming that their hair coloring is different from others. When that fails, she continued with how their services focus on the usage of machines which are not inclusive in my voucher before briefly do a random scan and back to selling me the use of the high frequency equipment. She claimed that the 7-IN-1 CUSTOMISED HERBAL SCALP THERAPY is unable to get rid of the dead skin cells pile up and requested me to top up $98 for the use of the high frequency machine. When I rejected and asked to proceed with the free trial, she promptly halved the price for credit card payments and continued to exercise her great persuasive skills.

Well, by now I was getting a little pissed off by her lack of professionalism but since I am jolly aware that there are no such things as free lunches in this world, I agreed to pay for the high frequency machine to stop her nagging and get on with the treatment.

The so-called therapy began with the consultant using a handheld equipment that emits some kind of electro-frequency (my guess because she can’t tell me exactly what kind of frequency is that) running through my scalp briefly section by section. And while doing so, she commented that I have dry scalp and sprayed on something for moisturizing purpose. Now I am confused. Because both my current scalp treatment therapist and the one that Cozycot has sent me to for review at Yun Nam both analyzed me with oily scalp! And if I was puzzled on why only the front portion and not the whole head is being treated, I didn’t ask because for one, the consultant is pre-occupied with her whispering conversations with her other colleagues and two, I assumed that because I am paying $49 instead of the initial $98 that she has asked for thus, the half head treatment.

To be fair, the shampooing by the junior staff was satisfactory, pleasurable even and I liked how she has applied the mask on my hair and asked if I need an extra towel to keep me warm while getting my hair steamed.

Anyway, the treatment was concluded with washing by the same junior staff and another junior staff helping me to blow dry my hair before being lead into the consultant room for another round of hard selling. As if not ashamed that by her half-hearted attention and the hasty scan that has shown absolutely ZERO improvement on the scalp, the consultant carried on pressure selling her packages that quoting from the initial thousands of dollars and desperately going down to hundreds and even offering to waive off the $49 if I were to sign up a trial package of 3 sessions.

When I steadfastly refused and marched out to the reception to make my payment, I was again being ‘ushered’ back into consultation room, this time by the Chinese speaking lady that I met when I first stepped into the salon. Apparently this pushy lady holds higher seniority than the consultant that has failed to convince me and with the door closed, she asked what’s my problem and tried push harder with the same aggressive techniques.

Unfortunately she did not succeed and I left the salon with the sulky faces watching my back and my mind pondering and counting on what kind of 7 customized treatment did I received? The few seconds of ticking with the heldheld equipments doesn’t counts because it takes $49 away from my pocket, so perhaps, the selling even before the hair scan counted as 1, the washing as 2, the hair mask as 3, another round of washing as 4, blow dry as 6 and the ultimate round of hard selling as 7!

I am writing this post not because I felt cheated of $49, as I said nothing is for free so I was prepared to top up for the treatment but I am utterly disappointed by the lack of professionalism. While I could fully understand the bottomline of a business is to make money but whether it is a paid treatment or a free trial, shouldn’t the staff be obligated to fulfill what is being stated in print or at least, put in a little more effort to do a proper analyzing before pushing for products and service packages sales right from the start while providing a hasty and lousy job throughout?

Yun Nam Hair Care Treatment Review

16 Dec

Though I have been experiencing hair loss for a couple of years by now but these days I am really stressed out on seeing huge clumps of hair falling out every morning when I wash my hair and strands and strands of hair all over the floor of the entire house. And as if it is not enough of a nightmare, my scalp has recently became terribly flaky and disturbingly itchy – a condition that my hair stylist has insisted as Sensitive Scalp.

Yun Nam Hair Care Treatment

I have stepped into Yun Nam Hair Care Heartland Mall Branch with huge anticipation.

https://lifelittletales.wordpress.com/

Upon filling up a questionnaire, the assistant branch manager proceed to perform a computerized scalp analysis and walked through the computer screen with me as she went along.

Though I was fully aware of my own set of problems but it still shocked to see how bad the state of my scalp is under the scope. To my horror, my scalp was kind of like covered with dandruff-like flakes and the consultant explained that such are buildups of dead cells, hair products, pollutants and such. She said that while my hairstylist is partially right about me having a sensitive scalp, what she has failed to tell me was that one of the culprit that contributes to the problem could be those chemical hair treatments that I do frequently. She warned that such treatments would worsen the condition further and lead to more hair problems if left untreated.

I have almost fallen off my chair when the consultant has diagnosed me with oily scalp and I was like: What? OILY SCALP? But my hair is so DRY!!!

Lesson learnt: The condition of your scalp and hair is two different issues. Your hair may be dry as grass but your scalp could still be an oilfield. Gosh! And all this while I have stressing my scalp with the wrong type of shampoo! My poor head!

After the analysis, the consultant concluded that we should work on the cleansing of the scalp and prescribed me a Customised Herbalogy Scalp Treatment for that matter.

https://lifelittletales.wordpress.com/

After the consultation, I was lead into their treatment room for a thorough shampoo and rinse. Gosh! The Ginseng shampoo smells heavenly!

https://lifelittletales.wordpress.com/

After which, the consultant came back with a bowl of mixture customized with ginseng and other herbs and applied it on my scalp using a small cotton piece and put me to steam for 30 minutes.

The prescribed treatment is targeted to deep cleanse the scalp by unclogging and repairing damaged hair follicles while strengthening the hair roots and stimulating new hair growth.

https://lifelittletales.wordpress.com/

After the treatment, I was back to the consultation room for another round of scan and I was delighted to see the leap of improvement through the before and after scan. And as promised, I was feeling so much lighter and fresher after the cleanse. The best thing is, I did not experience any itch on the day or the day after and the day after!

https://lifelittletales.wordpress.com/

It generally would take about 2 hours per treatment including before and after hair analysis and half and hour of hair steaming and the number of treatments required will solely depend on individual needs. As for my case, the consultant has felt my scalp condition is quite severe and has proposed about 40 treatments.

YADAH Natural Shampoo

13 Oct

I have gone down to the hair salon to get my hair re-colored the other day.  The chirpy hair color technician, barely works in the salon for three month and doing my hair for the first time, bared no bar and babbled as though we have known each other for ages. Twenty minutes into his job and he has already splashed out a detailed summary of his life and shared freely the juicy gossips of the female colleagues and even clients that he have attended.

Taking a clue from his openness, I jumped at the opportunity and asked if he would wash my hair instead of sending the shampoo boy to do the job. He accommodating obliged and I quickly threw him the bottle of Yadah Natural Shampoo, “help me do a test. Replace this with your the salon’s regular Re*** brand shampoo when washing my hair.” I went on to explain that I am doing a review and would love to hear the verdict from the expert. Seemly pleased with being addressed as an expert, this bubbly guy ushered me to the washing bay and could not resists updating me throughout the entire shampooing process even though I could not managed to catch most of his words under the running water.

Anyway after styling, I got him to repeat his findings and here is what his said:
“I was initially worried that the lack of silicon in its ingredient could not smoothen entangled hairs and would causes fiction while washing but the result was far better than expected. The shampoo isn’t too soapy yet it lathers up easily. It is very gentle on the scalp and does not weighs down your tresses. It has also helps to tame frizzy ends and revitalize your curls. Though no artificial fragrance is being added, the smell is pretty pleasant. I give it a two thumbs up!”

I totally agree. The shampoo works like a dream and I especially like I could skip the hassle of using a conditioner after shampooing.

YADAH Natural Shampoo uses natural ingredients certified by ECOCERT and is free of paraben, silicon and artificial colorant. A product from Korea, this delicate shampoo is produced with 100% natural surfactant and is suitable for all hair types including those with sensitive scalp.

YADAH Natural Shampoo is available in 250g/bot at SGD$15.90 & 400g/bot at SGD$22.90  from  http://www.yadahskincare.com/

Organix Hair Care

13 Apr

I wash my hair everyday because I dislike that sweaty and sticky feeling after a workout but I seldom buy shampoo and conditioner in family size since I am too lazy to transfer them into smaller bottles for the gym so I am kind of glad that the range of Organix Shampoo and conditioner comes is a handy size of 385ml. They provide sufficient supply for daily use yet they are not too heavy to lug around but of course, this is not the core reason on why I like Organix.

Being more environmentally conscious nowadays, I would always try to walk the talk and opt for brands/products that share the same sentiment and the love of our mother earth. Organix is one that packaged their products in recycled material and labels are printed in environmentally friendly inks with film are made from renewable resources.

And more importantly, Organix hair care products are extremely gentle for the scalp and hair and they are paraben free and sulfate free. While they a wide range of products to target to different hair types, what I am sharing here is their Cherry Blossom Ginseng.

The pleasant scent aside, I like how my hair is feeling nourished, soft and shiny after each wash. The light texture of the shampoo foams well and washes off easily and the conditioner essentially helps to smoothen my hair in an instance and thus reduction friction and hair loss.

Besides cherry blossom extracts and organic Asian ginseng, Cherry Blossom shampoo and conditioner is formulated with other organic ingredients such as rice milk and bamboo extracts that not only helps to rejuvenate the scalp and hair follicles, it adds volume to my fine hair while keeping it nourished and hydrated to maintain its natural glossiness. Not only that, my hair has become more manageable and styling is much easier too.

“Beauty DIY with Judy 老师” bloggers & Media Event

2 Jul

I first came across Shills while watching the Taiwan女人我最大 (Lady First show) some years ago. At that time Beauty Bistro has not brought the brand into Singapore yet but I managed to find that highly recommended Shills Super Magic BB cream from a blog shop online. I was so crazy over BB cream back then that I have once ordered a dozen of Shills Super Magic BB cream, only to be distributed among the girls since it took a long time to finish a tube.

When I was being to attend the “Beauty DIY with Judy 老师” bloggers & Media event by Louisa, I pounded on the opportunity. Being in the game for more than 20 years and a renowned 女人我最大 celebrity fashion & beauty stylist, Judy Lin not only excel at her craft, she is enviously as gorgeous as any of her celebrity clients and I was looking forward to steal a beauty trick or two from her during the event.

The event was kick-started off the introduction of Shills slimming range and a live demonstration using SHILLS Miracle-Lift 157% Body Contour Control and ANOSA Fit Patch on two volunteers separately. A look at the lady volunteer, Judy remarked that she should be able to take at least 2cm off her flabby arm after using SHILLS Miracle-Lift 157% Body Contour Control cream! Wow! That pumped up my adrenaline and got me really excited to see the result. After applying the cream and lightly massaged it upward direction towards the heart for the improving of blood circulation, she wrapped the targeted area with a cling wrap to enhance the penetration and allow fat burning.

The result: The volunteer’s arm was shrunk by 2cm. It measured 30 cm in comparison to initial 32cm! That’s incredibly impressive!

Up next was something that I kept on my toes. I simply hate my flat and lifeless hair to the max!

Using the SHILLS Magical Hair Volumizer and SHILLS FLUFFY FIX Maximizing Hair Volume Spray; Judy demonstrated how to turn flat hair into stunning up-dos within minutes. The transformation of the day & nigh hairdo had seemed so effortlessly easy on stage but when I tried to replicate the style myself, it took me endless hours and ended with a mess and a lot of falling hair on the floor thereafter.

While my clumsy fingers have failed me, the Hair Volumizer & Fluffy Fix Spray did not. In fact, they have since become my most essential companions that help me to fake a full and bountiful head everyday!

More gathered around and many beauties watched with keen interest as Judy proceed to show the audience how to stay pretty with bright and radiant skin that is free of dark spots and pigmentations using SHILLS WHITE Anti-Dark Spot Whitening Serum, SHILLS WHITE EX Whitening and Brightening Cream and SHILLS Whitening Hydra-Foundation 21.

I was amazed by how much the SHILLS Moisturizing & Whitening Cold Gel Mask can increase the skin moisturize level and bring the skin’s temperature down instantly, but it wasn’t on sale that day. Instead, it comes free with the SHILLS WHITE 540° Whitening Anti-Pigmentation Series bundle but since I don’t use whitening stuff,  I never get a chance to experience the goodness of the mask ..what a shame 😦

L’oreal Elseve Smooth-intense Mask

17 Dec

Thank you SgFreeBee for sending me the four packets of L’oreal Elseve Smooth-intense Mask.

While my hair is not rebelliously frizzy, it is extremely dry and rough. It is especially difficult to manage after washing as my hair would all entangled up and I would have to rely on a lot of conditioner to smoothen it. And even then, my hair will frizz the moment I blow dry.

Having use the mask for the first time, I am pleasantly surprised with the result. It leaves a shiny coat and my hair feels deeply nourished and I did not expect that my hair could feel so silky and soft after drying.

It is relatively easy to use too. After shampooing, squeeze out excess water and spread the paste thoroughly onto the hair and rinse off after leaving it on for a minute or two and you are done. No conditioner is required and the nourishing effect lasts throughout the next wash.

Ginvera Focus Group

2 Nov

It is always good to hear and to be heard. For that reason, I always enjoy attending Focus Group whereby participants could air freely their views and opinions on certain targeted products or services.

Not new to Ginvera products, I am delighted to attend their focus group on their body and hair range. But as just I thought I already knew Ginvera’s products inside out from their innovations of Marvel Gel to their popular Green Tea Shower Scrub, I was surprised to see more items under their wing.

One of which is the range of Silky Shine shampoo and conditioner and there is probably three or four types presented to us on the table. I remembered seeing those in some budget stores before but never knew it is made/marketed by Ginvera. Much as I regretted, I hope I have not offended the two lovely moderators for being crude and blunt by pointing out that I find the packaging passé and therefore, the product, very unappealing.

Likewise, I have also voiced out about the empowering smell of the otherwise, good and nourishing Royal Jelly Shower Gel but the good thing is that, they are re-creating the shower gel and I am glad that out of the two samples that we sniffed, one of fragrance variation is actually quite lovely. Let’s hope this will be the final one being selected for their production and I would definitely be returning to pamper myself with the Royal Jelly Shower Gel once again.

During the discussion, we have also shared on the Spa Range of Shower Scrub, which is my favourite and the new packaging of their Green Tea Shampoo. Well, I suppose revamping is good but being a more visualizing person, I am still very much into the old packaging whereby I can clearly see the greenie stuff inside the bottle.

At the end of the discussion, we were presented with a goodie bag of appreciation that includes one of my favourite, Apricot Shower Scrub!

  • Ginvera Shower Scrub
  • Ginvera Green Tea Shampoo
  • Silky Shine Shampoo
  • Natural Fresh Cleansing Foam
  • Ginvera Nutri-White Marvel Sachet
  • Ginvera Nutri-White Radiance Cream Sachet
